The Work
Our current projects include our work in regional development, training missions in ABCD work with GMIST, alongside our moving arts showcase the "Southern Avalon Performance Series."

Yet it was our smaller projects that helped us solidify our relationships and future partnerships. We have a saying that "Relationships are built at the speed of trust" and it was only time and follow through that showed collaboration between communities is possible.
Some of our past PROJECTS that we've focused on:
-
Trail Development with a donation to the Southern Avalon Trails Association.
-
Storyboards: We received help from a community member in each town to help us with the local research. We were assisted by Wilf Sutton, Dave Curtis in Trepassey, Calvin Coombs, for Portugal Cove South, and Donna Hewitt for St. Shotts. With their help we were able to develop historical storyboards for the Southern Avalon. These were donated to each of these towns on behalf of ECHO. Our most recent board went up in the community of St. Vincent's in honour of Mrs. Bride, who was an avid historian and cultural preservationist. We used her words for content, and gathered photos in collaboration with the St. Vincent's Fisherman's Museum, led by her daughter in law Madonna Neville Martin.
-
Benches were made locally and distributed throughout the Southern Avalon. These multi coloured places to rest will come in and out of storage from winter to spring. We hope you all get a chance to take a moment to soak in the landscapes of the Southern Avalon on one of our benches!
-
Trepassey Veterans Memorial Funds were donated to this group so they could add a flagpole to the site.
-
“Trepassey in June” video by Evelyn Jess Music was shot in Trepassey in April of 2022 by Up Sky Down Films, co-produced by ECHO. This song was the winner of the Amelia Earhart Songwriting Competition back in 2018 and was part of her winning prize package. It was our pleasure to help produce this stunning tribute to the Amelia/Trepassey connection.
-
Southern Avalon Performance Series: Our dedication to telling stories through artistic events such as the 90th Anniversary Gala in 2018 continued in to 2022 with the SAPS “Come Home Year Edition” that saw 45 artists perform across the Southern Avalon. Thanks to all who attended and our community partners. We couldn’t have done it without you.

The WORK we do benefits the region by impacting these key areas:
1) It lifts the spirits for locals and visitors alike which while also supporting
mental health by connecting community.

2) ECHO supports creative enterprises of all ages and skill levels within the province which supports the arts.

3) ECHO uses events as a vehicle to get the fascinating history that our region is privy to out in a creative manner. Ie: Evelyn Jess's video "Trepassey in June" or Lorne Warr's "Amelia Earhart; A Woman in Pants."

4) ECHO has worked with small businesses in the region
including supporting new ones such as "The Keeper's Kitchen"
located in St. Shott's which helps to support the local economy.

5) Our philosophy is "a rising tide floats all boats."
We've stayed true to course on this with
provincial partnerships ie: Perchance Theatre, Music NL and
Mistaken Point Cape Race Heritage Inc. which falls under
community collaborations.

6) We are also not afraid to go after corporate sponsorships.
We are grateful for the generosity of Mary Browns, Oceanex,
CBDC Celtic, Power Strategy Consulting, and a host of others.
Thank You!
7) It was also great to reach out to the community of Burry Port, Wales,
the town where Amelia Earhart landed in 1928.
We are connected by Welsh pirate Black Bart &
Sir William Vaughn who wanted to settle a colony in our
community from Wales. So a strong Welsh connection was established

Are you the next one to partner up with us as we soar to new heights?

Come aboard!
“Never interrupt someone doing something you said couldn't be done.”
― Amelia Earhart
